YO, LIBS: Record Number of NFL Players Kneel – Here’s The TV Ratings After That Hissy Fit

What kind of idiots would be dumb enough to antagonize their own customers?

That’s easy! Sports, news, and entertainment idiots.

They haven’t clued in yet, have they?

You would have thought that they’d be concerned enough about their bottom lines to start seeing the dots connect.

Hollywood is taking a bath this year. Again.

‘News’ programs are trailing behind reruns of America’s Funniest.

ESPN practically has to register as a lobbyist.

NFL Ticket prices in SanFrancico are slashed more than the victims in ‘It’.

And what do these things have in common?

They were entirely self-inflicted.

People WANT to be entertained. Just ask the Gladiator:

No… actually. We are NOT entertained. Not anymore.

We WANT to escape for 90 minutes. We WANT to see grown men pound the crap out of each other on the gridiron, or the ring, or on the ice.

We want to see peak athletic performance… warriors wowing us with feats of skill we couldn’t DREAM of doing ourselves. Really … a break from the ebb and flow of the daily grind. Or news of the latest earthquake or tragedy.

But They don’t want to give us entertainment anymore.

Instead of entertaining us, they scold us.

We are hectored, lectured, mocked and derided.

But they still seem to like our money. Or they did… when we would give it to them.

Well, have it your way. You love Clinton and hate Trump?

Fine. We’ll play your game. There’s a catch, though.

How about we slam your ratings right back down to what they were when there was a Clinton in the White House. Let’s say… back in 1998?

Would you like that? Because it just happened.

The Week 2 NFL singleheader window delivered an 8.4 rating and 14.5 million viewers on CBS Sunday, down 24% in ratings and viewership from last year on FOX (11.0, 19.2M) and down 14% and 13% respectively from 2015 on CBS (9.8, 16.7M).
The 8.4 rating is the lowest for the Week 2 singleheader since at least 1998. The first two NFL windows on CBS this season have both declined double-digits to multi-year lows. —SportsMediaWatch

There’s an expression that the NFL will need to wake up to… one about defecating where one eats.

The reality hasn’t sunk in yet. Teams that allow their players to take a knee are losing attendees and TV viewers in alarming numbers. On Thursday night, the SF Forty Niners and the LA Rams played before a stadium that was only half-full. The TV ratings are down 24 percent this year over last year and are the worst since 1998, when there were only 375.9 million Americans compared to the 324.3 million this year, a difference of almost 49 million people. –FoxBusiness

Players and unions think they are holding all the cards here.

They are wrong. The FANS are holding all the cards here.

If you or I brought our personal issues to work, and the company took a hit in the bottom line over it, how long do you think it would be before we got a pink slip?

Because — ‘free expression’ or no… Isn’t that exactly what’s happening here?

Doug Giles, as ever, has a controversial opinion:

Do you think that these brave, bold fellows following in the footsteps of unsigned QB Colin Kaepernick aren’t going to feel the consequences of their disrespectful actions, hmm?

It’s going to hit them right in the wallet.

If they keep this up Americans will continue to tune out, then that’ll hurt the bottom line. If there aren’t the eyeballs watching and revenue drops, these guys can’t make the big bucks.
