There is new footage from a Taxi driver on the scene, together with new takes on the existing footage. Are they right? Or grasping at straws?
The camera footage from the Taxi driver seems to start right from the outset of the incident. You can hear him talking to the camera about gunfire.
In the first couple of seconds you can already hear the gunfire.
But the reaction is surreal.
At the four-minute mark, he’s still sitting in a taxi cue with other taxis in front of the Mandalay.
He’s within earshot of the gunfire, and he’s listening to a scanner or dispatch radio of some sort as events are unfolding.
Even four minutes in, people are still standing around at the base of the hotel, unconcerned.
Someone over the radio even quipped ‘what happens in Vegas, everything seems normal when it’s not’.
The cabbie even rolls down the window to tell bystanders about the shots fired.
5 minutes out, he’s ‘outta here’.
About 6 minutes in, the police swarm the place.
If the clock on his dashboard is correct, working back from the time stamp, this filming started at about 10:09 local time.
Things get hairy at the nine-minute mark when casualties start streaming to where his taxi was waiting, a short distance from the concert site.
Victims climb into the cab, including one guy with a broken leg.
‘Oh God, there IS an active shooter’, the cabbie said.
The lady who got into the cab answered ‘So many people are dead‘.
She’s obviously in shock.
‘Everybody’s dead,’ she says, ‘thousands. Bloody people everywhere.’
Thre’s a reason everyone is talking about this event. It was harrowing for those who experienced it and shattering to everyone who woke up to this news the next morning.
Everyone has questions. Some are about the girl, and why she was so quickly exonerated.
That’s a question that’s had a lot of us scratching our heads.
Others wander a little further from the mainstream… perhaps into tinfoil hat territory.
We’re not going to publish the killer’s death photo — for obvious reasons — but it sure seemed self-inflicted to me. So we’re not going to get into the bit about ‘false flag’ and ‘he was murdered’.
But there were some other questions making the rounds. Because of that, we’ll reference them. You decide for yourselves. (We’re skeptical and will explain why.)
– As many as 10 rifles were found in his hotel room… but only one shooter? (objection: weird, but not conclusive)
– Muzzle flash from 5th floor — (objection: We don’t see it. Also: why no broken 5th-floor window?)
– ISIS claimed responsiblity — (objection: they also falsely claimed responsibility for other attacks. They want the high-value propaganda of this event)
One gets into Paddock’s politics. Claiming he’s part of the anti-Trump-movment.
Like we said, dubious.
The final question, however, seems worth asking. They take a somewhat different angle than The video of Doug Giles questioning the too-quick exoneration of the girlfriend.
How was the FBI able to almost immediately declare Paddock had no ties to ISIS — barely 12 hours after the shooting — when the same agency has spent over a year investigating President Trump with zero evidence linking him to Russia, all while refusing to declare Trump has no ties to Russia?
The other ones we won’t even bother to acknowledge directly because we think they’re even MORE dubious than THESE ones, but if you’re curious about what conspiracy theories are going around, you can read the rest here.
