It doesn’t look like you thought this through, Cuomo.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants to give another break to immigrant Dreamers by extending free public college tuition to students who were brought into the United States illegally as kids.
Cuomo tucked a provision in his $168 billion budget plan that would amend state education law to make the undocumented students eligible for the Excelsior Scholarship program, which covers tuition costs for students from families with incomes of up to $125,000.
As in ‘entered illegally’.
So, lemme get this straight.
Cuomo wants to reward them with taxpayer money and scholarships. (Is it even Constitutional to use Taxpayer money in that way?)
Wow, this is good news, actually.
This must mean that they have managed to eradicate poverty in New York among the true citizens. That Poverty is no longer an issue. That every native-born New Yorker has had his shot at furthering his or her education.
That must have happened already, right?
Because if there are people in New York who — for some reason — haven’t had that opportunity… they should have every right to ask him… why?
What makes these so-called Dreamers so special that they deserve educational opportunities that some actual Citizens haven’t had?
