Every dad of a daughter knows this day is coming and makes jokes along this line. Did he go too far? Or did the Left just not get the joke?
First, right off the mark — we will note that he didn’t violate any gun safety rules for this photo.
Second, this wasn’t some punk he’d never seen before. The young guy in the photo has been dating his daughter for more than a year.
Third, you will notice the smile on everyone’s face. Everyone is in on the joke.
Fourth, do you REALLY think a guy built like that would need a GUN to put a scare in his daughter’s suitor? He plays NFL football, for pity’s sake. His bare hands would be enough to land the average guy in a world of hurt.
Jay Feely, 41, posted the image to Twitter on Saturday, writing: ‘Wishing my beautiful daughter and her date a great time at prom #BadBoys’.
The picture caused controversy, with many calling it irresponsible and insensitive amidst of the current heated debate on gun control following tragedies such as the Parkland and Las Vegas shootings.
The father-of-four, from Arizona, said on Twitter on Sunday: ‘The prom picture I posted was obviously intended to be a joke. My Daughter has dated her boyfriend for over a year and they knew I was joking.
Here’s your reminder that the Left is where humor goes to die.
On top, Jay Feely’s tweet. Below it, the unsolicited amateur psychoanalysis.

Did she lack a dad in her life? Did her dad not joke with her? Or is there some other reason that she doesn’t ‘get’ the ‘overprotective dad’ routine.
It only shows up in literally EVERY genre of tv, movie, book, and even a good share of comedy acts.
What accounts for it? A sheltered life? Womyn’s studies?
Or just a rabid feminist distrust of men generally?
There was drama on Twitter. It got silly, fast.
What do you think? Was it funny?
Or was he ‘demonstrating that he saw his daughter as property’?
