That awkward moment when the people who make the news… ‘make the news’.
Sorry dearie, the Internet is Forever!
If CBS was worried about Bloomberg’s prediction that the bottom was dropping out of their shares because of the NFL controversy… imagine what THIS heartless insult to America will do for the shares.
When bodies started dropping at the Las Vegas Concert, CBS executives gave tacit APPROVAL of the murders!
Vice President Senior Counsel of Strategic Transactions at CBS.
Hmmm. Sounds like an important position.
It’ll be interesting to see if she still has it tomorrow, once CBS starts taking heat for the statements she made.
Repugs? That’s so Jayvee and cliche. If you’re going to insult us, there’s any number of better insults you could use.
But we’re not up to the offensive part yet.
I’m not even sympathetic because country music fans often are republican gun toters.
Let’s recap the carnage, Ms Hayley…
BREAKING: Sheriff: Death toll from Las Vegas shooting has risen to 58; the number of injured up to 515.
— The Associated Press (@AP) October 2, 2017
We’ve got 18-year-old girls shot. But she is ‘not sympathetic’.
Almost FIVE DOZEN caskets. But she’s unfazed.
Combined numbers of dead and wounded dwarfed the Pulse Nightclub shooting.
No big deal to them.
The person she was talking to even invoked Sandy Hook, and the suggestion that teachers be armed, for the defense of themselves and their students.
(An idea that horrified her, because she couldn’t grasp the logic of having a trained adult with a weapon on hand to stop an active shooter… which is exactly the same method the security guard or police officer use to stop an active shooter, without having to wait for them to arrive on scene.)
The inference is that (what they assume are) Trump-Voting, Flag-waving Country Music fans will suddenly begin to care about the lives wasted by gunmen because now that it’s a Country Music event, it suddenly becomes relevant to them.
The real irony of the comment is entirely the opposite.
Our side cares about the lives of students, and wants teachers to be able to stand with lethal force if some violent SOB comes in to wreak havoc in a school.
But THEIR side? They got caught admitting that — in a very real sense — the lives of Americans they disagree with have no real value to them.
Republicans are so much ‘the enemy’ to these people, that when they lie bleeding and dying in the streets, they respond with a shrug and a question of how their political positions might profit from the experience.
THESE are the sort of people that work at CBS.
Their ratings are already being ‘shorted’ by Bloomberg.
What do you think will happen to CBS when Americans in that ‘thin sliver of America’ wedged between New York and LA learn how little you value the lives of their loved ones.
The nation’s flag is at half-mast.
While at least one CBS executive is laughing smugly about it.
Maybe they don’t know that anecdote when President Reagan was shot — the President, trying to stay upbeat, said ‘I hope you’re a Republican doctor.’
The doctor, who was not, said, ‘Mr. President, today we are ALL Republicans.’
Maybe she should take a good look at the uncensored footage.
You don’t have to like Country Music to care that a fan got shot.
Good Grief! They’re AMERICANS. Were they this cold at the Ariana Grande concert?
***UPDATE: Fox News reports that Hayley Geftman-Gold is the former Vice President Senior Counsel of Strategic Transactions at CBS.
CBS has parted ways with one of the company’s top lawyers after she said she is “not even sympathetic” to victims of the Las Vegas shooting because “country music fans often are Republican,” when discussing the tragic mass shooting that occurred in Las Vegas late Sunday night.
“This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families,” a CBS spokeswoman told Fox News.
