The gun-grabbing demands on the Left have reached fever-pitch after the Parkland school shooting.
Everyone and their dog — well, actually, it’s the Left, so probably their cat — is demanding some sort of gun control law.
Unfortunately, most of these sudden ‘experts’ on guns that the Left trots out are the traumatized teen victims of a school shooting.
But now there is one sporting goods store that is going to stop selling ‘assault-style firearms’ as well as high-capacity magazines and bump stocks. There will also be a new company policy to prohibit the sale of guns to anyone under the age of 21.
Edward Stack, CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods, made the announcement on Good Morning America on Wednesday.
Dick’s Sporting Goods will no longer sell assault-style firearms, will ban high-capacity magazines and will not sell any guns to people younger than 21, chief executive Edward W. Stack said Wednesday.
Stack appeared on “Good Morning America” on Wednesday morning, two weeks after a mass shooting in Parkland, Fla., that killed 17 people and reinvigorated a national debate about gun control. The alleged shooter, Nikolas Cruz, bought a gun from a Dick’s store in November, Stack said during the television interview.
Although the weapon purchased at the Dick’s outlet was not the one used in the massacre, Stack said his company was moved to act.
Stack said that although the store did everything ‘by the book’, the 19-year old that targetted his former schoolmates at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland had purchased a gun and ammunition from a Dick’s Sporting Goods Store in November 2017.

Here is a copy of the actual statement:
In case the text is hard to read on your phone, here’s the too long/didn’t read version:
Dicks’s has ‘heard’ the protesters. Sold the murderer a shotgun (not used in the shooting). They are changing their own policies:
They “will no longer sell assault-style rifles, also known as modern sporting rifles.” (Plus some other store policy changes like not selling to under-21, or selling high-capacity magazines.
The later part of the message was pure activism, calling on Congress to change laws. Including:
Baning assault-style firearms. Raise min age to 21. Ban high capacity magazines and bump stocks. Require universal background checks that include relevant mental health info and previous interactions with the law.
Close the ‘private sale and gun show loophole’ that waives the necessity of background checks.
Stack said he is now urging Congress to put aside partisan politics and enact swift changes to gun laws. A statement called on those in office to ban assault-style firearms, ban high capacity magazines and bump stocks, and require universal background checks that “include relevant mental health information and previous interactions with the law.” The statement also demanded a comprehensive database of people banned from buying firearms and the closure of the private sale and gun show loophole that waives background checks.

Any questions about the Broward County Sheriff’s Office not allowing EMTs into the school to treat shooting victims?
Or how about the inaction of the FBI?
Will he query the Broward County School policies that wanted to ‘achieve equity’ through not arresting Black and Hispanic students committing crimes — which enabled the Parkland shooter to fly under the radar?
What about that the federal policies put in place by the bleeding heart Progressives that allowed the shooter to refuse mental health treatment as soon as he turned 18?
Nikolas Cruz, the self-confessed Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooter refused to let the district continue providing him with mental health services after he turned 18 and the superintendent of schools says federal law kept them from doing anything about it.
Broward Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie tells the Sun Sentinel “You can’t make someone do something when the law says they have the right to make that determination.”

That’s all pretty unlikely.
Instead, Dick’s Sporting Goods is just making a unilateral decision to restrict selling particular weapons and accessories and bar access to those under 21.
Dick’s Sporting Goods is a private company and they can do as they like.
That also means that you as customers can do as YOU like.
