This is NOT the first allegation… but this one was bad enough that even HE didn’t think he could Clinton his way through the allegations.
The typical deny/delay tactics that favored Leftists use to ride out political scandals just weren’t enough to counterbalance the enormity of the allegations against him.
The earlier accusations were already damning enough:
A lawsuit alleges Seattle mayor Ed Murray, who has defended the city’s policy of refusing to turn over illegal alien criminals to federal authorities, raped drug-addicted, teenaged boys.
A 46-year-old plaintiff, identified as D.H., claims that he met Murray on a bus and Murray allegedly “propositioned” him for “private visits” at his apartment. D.H., who says he was 15 and addicted to drugs at the time, claims Murray allegedly requested he perform sexual acts in exchange for $10 to $20 dollars. According to the Seattle Times, the alleged victim is coming forward as part of a “healing process”: — Read more here
But now, the FIFTH allegation of sexual abuse put an end to any re-election plans the Seattle mayor may have had.
Murray’s resignation came hours after his cousin, Joseph Dyer, gave an interview with the Seattle Times alleging sexual abuse dating from the 1970’s, claiming something “had to be done” about his reported crimes.
Over the last year, Murray has been subject to a string of accusations that he molested several young men in the 1980s. He initially denied the claims, but the accusations became so intense that Murray announced in May he would not run for re-election.
An excerpt from that interview:
Joseph Dyer, 54, a dialysis technician and Air Force veteran, says he was 13 when Murray forced him into sex for about a year while the two shared a bedroom in Dyer’s mother’s home in the Long Island town of Medford, New York.
“And that’s when he would molest me. And my mother would be right there in the house, she’d be in the living room … watching TV, at that time it was probably “M*A*S*H.” And my sisters would be in their rooms, sleeping. And I would be in my room, and he would be in there, molesting me.” — Seattle Times
This is not some anonymous accuser. This is a relative putting his own name and reputation on the line.
A veteran, no less.
No wonder Ed Murray abandoned his campaign.
How does anyone recover from an allegation like that — even if he does manage to clear his name?
